British Waterways has announced that The Scottish Boat Show and Outdoor Leisure Festival will return to The Falkirk Wheel from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st May 2006.
The Scottish Boat Show at The Falkirk Wheel was reviewed earlier this year resulting in a complete redesign and new name. Following considerable research and consultation a decision was taken to create a show which would encompass a wider selection of waterway related activity and provide more opportunities for people to get on to the water to experience inland boating opportunities.
Renamed "The Scottish Boat Show and Outdoor Leisure Festival, 2006", the event will showcase a wide range of watersports and towpath activities, from boating and sailing opportunities to cycling, walking and fishing, amongst other pursuits.
Commenting on the redesigned Show, Ronnie Simpson, Event Director and Leisure Development Manager at British Waterways Scotland, said: "Scotland's inland waterways are attracting more and more visitors each year. However there is still considerable scope to introduce more people to the wealth of boating and leisure opportunities available on the waterways and along the towpaths.
"With this in mind we have taken time to completely review the event and create a show which will highlight the full range of opportunities on the waterways and inspire our visitors to return to the towpaths and waterways. Considering this, plans are now being developed to get more people onto the water on scheduled boat trips over the show weekend."
Anyone interested in exhibiting at the event should contact Richard Davies, Event Organiser, The Scottish Boat Show and Outdoor Leisure Festival, 2006, New Port Downie, Lime Road, Falkirk FK1 4RS Tel: 01324 677 810 or Email: info@thescottishboatshow.co.uk.
The Scottish Boat Show and Outdoor Leisure Festival will run from Friday 19th May to Sunday 21st May 2006. Admission fee is £3 for adults with free entry for accompanied children under 16.
More details on the exact format of the show will be announced in due course on our website www.thescottishboatshow.co.uk. Information on all canal based events throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK can be found at www.waterscape.com.
